Small Towns Enjoying Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale
Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale has a flying start with a good note and set new records for its other e-commerce competitors like Snapdeal and Amazon. In the couple of days, the product sales boost up with the arrival of buyers not only from metro but also small cities. Customers across the country looks to be enjoying the festive shopping across various categories including TVs, mobile phones, apparel, shoes, home décor, kitchen appliances, books, FMCG products, sports equipment and many more. On the first Day of Amazon’s Great Indian Festive Sale, the company hits 70% traffic coming from mobile devices and the entry of new consumers from cities like Aurangabad, Dhanbad, Tiruchirappalli, Jamshedpur, and several others small cities. Apart from Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai also saw huge amount of interest from Tier II cities with Nagpur, Indore, Jaipur and Vishakhapatnam leading in sales.
On the second Day, customers from Tier III towns gathered to Amazon.in via number of platforms – Desktop, mobile and app. In the last two days, Amazon has received over 30% orders from Tier III towns. Moreover, on the third day the Great Indian Festive Sale reached the biggest day ever in the history of the Smartphone Phones category. On the other hand, Flipkart on Day 3 set a new record by selling half a million smartphone handsets in the 10 hours since sales opened at midnight on Wednesday. About 75% of the smartphones sold during this period was 4G phones. About 25% of the people showed interest in the exchange offers at Flipkart in order to upgrade to a new phone.
